Siege of Troy: Circa 1184 B.C.
The site seems to be acting of its own accord so I have moved many of the photographs I originally posted on Troy.html to here. There will still be more to come. I just hope they take less time to load this way.
The Gates of Troy's Citadel
The next unique thing about Troy's defenses were the gates. There are several. All are just large enough to get a chariot through and certainly no horse taller than 12 feet could get into the Citadel without making the gates bigger. No real horse is 12 feet tall. A statue of a horse to contain 20 heroes would certainly have required the Trojans to make their gate openings bigger. But then that's a story and not necessarily to be believed. Had a large horse been made a gate would have to be enlarged to get it through. Perhaps. . .
