inorder to counter attack any sally made by the alhambra garrison. Behind the gates you can see the tents and stores area required of the
besieging army. Outside the gate is a trebechet which can fire at the alhambra. It counts on the protective walls of the counter castle
In the upper part of the photo are units of the besieging army going out to defend the counter castle against a relieving army of Moors. In the event of a reversal they can return to the protection of the counter castle's defenses.
